Hypnosis is a trance state characterized by extreme suggestibility, relaxation and heightened awareness.

Everyday forms of hypnosis are:

  • reading
  • driving
  • watching a movie
  • mowing the lawn

The trance state is achieved by intentional relaxation and focusing exercises. This deep hypnosis is often compared to the relaxed mental state between wakefulness and sleep, similar to daydreaming.

In a hypnotic trance you are:

  • in absolute control and have free will
  • hyper-attentive
  • alert the whole time, similar to watching a movie
  • fully conscious and focused intently on the subject at hand

When in a state of trance, the conscious mind is subdued and takes a backseat to the subconscious mind, allowing the hypnotist to speak to your subconscious directly.

Your subconscious mind:

  • does your "behind the scenes" thinking
  • accesses vast storehouse of memories and feelings
  • is the director of the processes in your physical body
  • cannot rationalize, therefore highly suggestible

Why it works:

The hypnotism process is similar to popping open a control panel inside your brain. By intentionally achieving a trance state and directly communicating with the subconscious mind, the root reasons for behavior or feelings is discovered and new, positive feelings and behavior are easily integrated.
